Appreciation

I tried to think of the words but I couldn’t find them last night. I sent you a little note on facebook, but it doesn’t even begin to portray the gratitude I feel knowing how you’re behind me in my decisions. I appreciate the feeling of knowing you’ll be there, even if I stumble (especially if I stumble), and your friendship has proven time and again to be unconditional and priceless.

I appreciate every ounce of your being my friend. Thank you, sincerely.

Swollen hearts

This guy just came in – he’s a young kid but his family has been insured in our office for years.  He stopped in a while back and just mentioned he had been thinking about joining the marines.  He stopped back by a couple weeks later to make a payment and told us he had made his decision – he’s joined the Marines and he’s heading off to boot camp in a month.  He came back in and switched up some things on his policies about 3 or 4 days before he left and he was so nervous…

Anyway, he just came in wearing his new uniform, hat in hand, and grinning from ear to ear.  He’s fresh out of boot camp and he’s just so proud - it just makes my heart all swollen and I wanted to share!

Pure Awesome

So I'm sitting at my desk this morning, chatting Stephanie up and waiting to unforward the phones, when a truck pulls into the parking lot. In walk a couple of insured's. They're an older couple, both probably mid to late 50's in a nice black, extended cab, Chevy truck. The man, wearing jorts and a polo with his salt and pepper hair, walked up and held the door open for the woman, whom I'm assuming is his wife. She walks through the door wearing Neon Green shorty shorts with a very form fitting and low cut white t-shirt and pink bedazzled PLATFORM flip-flops - I'm talking 3 inches thick at LEAST. Her bleach blonde hair is in a messy it-took-me-an-hour-in-front-of-the-mirror-to-look-like-I-did-this-in-10-seconds style ponytail on top of her head and she's wearing sunglasses the size of saucers.

This is the reason I got out of bed today.

Golden shoe strings

You know, I've just got to bitch about something really quickly.

I had to go get my brakes done yesterday.  It was almost a thousand effing dollars to do this!  As I was waiting, patiently, to spend that thousand dollars I really don't have to spend on an 8 year old effing car, I was reading "US Weekly" in the little, poorly stocked waiting room.

Charlie Sheen's twins and the Octo-Mom's new house and blah blah blah...  Then I came across a Jennifer Aniston story.  I think she's absolutely adorable, so I started to read and, as it turns out, Jenn and John broke up again.  In a last ditch "love me don't leave me" effort, Jen went on a shopping spree and bought Mr. Mayer a pair of $800 TENNIS SHOES!!  WTF?!

I will have no social life for a looooooooong time now, because I had to fix my stupid car, and she's buying $800 tennis shoes?!  For a guy?!!

I really need to get into show business.  Anyone want to hear me sing?!!

FML

Today, I walked in to work to find the ceiling gone, torn apart (along with the roof and all the flooring in the building) by the recent hail storm in the area.  Not only that, but our AC is being worked on for the next 2 days, so we are dealing with all of this in the Texas heat.  Our roof is also being worked on, full of holes and falling debris.  It rained last night so the plastic sheets we've hung across the now vacant ceiling, over our desks - to theoretically keep the debris from the torn up roof and missing ceiling, like 10-year-old wet insulation and 3 inch screws, from falling on our heads - is now full of rain water mixed with said debris.  This wonderfully smelling concoction, along with the loud hammering of the roofers, the loud hum of the fans to dry the place out,  and the constant drip of rain into buckets all over the office is the music of my day.  FML.

Words of wisdom...

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.

Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot; who calls you back when you hang up on him; who will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead; who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats; who holds your hand in front of his friends.

Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you.  Wait for the one who turns to his friends and says, "...that's her."

Ode to pop-tarts

Ode to Pop-Tarts
by Alecia and Jenny

Oh the Pop-Tart, my favorite meal on the planet.
You taste so good on my lips
and go straight for my hips.
And your icing's so great I can't stand it.

You come in more than one flavor
My heart always skips a beat
While I'm deciding on which treat
because the mouth sure knows how to savor!

I love you, pop-tart, with a little milk on the side,

And a lotta milk sure makes a great ride!
But a little too much and I'm getting the hunch

that your crunch goes by the wayside

Why pop-tart, do you take advantage of me so,
i can't control the milk's flow
so I hold on tight
until it feels just right
But in the end I just have to let go.
